Of course we all LOVE being pug owners, but I think we should list some of the downsides of owning a pug. We have had quite a few questions on the forums, asking if young children are ready for pugs, so this might give them some more things to think about before getting a pug.
Here is my list:
1.) Shedding!! I never realized such a small animal could shed so much.
2.) Cost: The first year of having a pug can be kind of expensive with medical bills. -

I agree only with shedding... especially in hot weather!!! I could never expect such a small dog can produce so much hair!!!
Health issues are kind of subjective. Thanks god we are lucky with our pugs health
The only thing I MUST do is to keep an eye on her so she doesn't eat something dangerous. -

Shedding is the only ongoing issue I have had with my pugs. We did have a weight issue with Ozzie, but we started making him food ourselves... chicken - breast meat, livers and gizzards, mixed with a small amount of brown rice and lots of chopped veggies, broccoli, green beans, brussel sprouts, spinach, lima beans, black eyed peas and brewers yeast tablets. We make a big batch once every two weeks and freeze it in small containers. It actually costs less than buying premium dog food and is so much better for them. Also, no more gas!
